Well, that was it - the last full week of being Early Years, only a few more days to go and then we roll into the Summer holidays and think ahead to being Year 1!
Normally, at this time of year in Robins, it is not just the children who get all emotional, it is the staff too. This year it is different - we are still emotional but that is because we are so incredibly proud of all they have achieved, who they have become and we now get to enjoy another year of being with them and taking them further on their exciting journey through school life. Thank you so much for your feedback on the reports - keep them coming as it helps us plan ahead and shape things for next year. If you do wish to speak to me about the report, please catch me either at the beginning or at the end of the school day on Tuesday or Wednesday.
This week, even though I think the focus was staying in the shade, drinking plenty of water and managing some very energetic children, we still continued with our reading, phonics and free flow. We also kept a close eye on the meerkats, lemurs and penguins through the webcams that are dotted around Cotswold Wildlife Park ahead of our trip on Thursday. As we sat on the carpet watching the penguins on the webcam, excitement grew when one of the penguins dived in to the pool to which all the children would clap and cheer. Well, when we got to the wildlife park, it was no different – the Robins watched with excitement and waited…..and waited….until eventually one penguin jumped in – and you guessed it our children clapped and cheered just as they did when watching on the carpet – and because they clapped and cheered, other visitors around started to clap and cheer – it was quite infectious! Well done Robins for spreading such joy!
During our trip we …..saw penguins, meerkats, birds, fish, cats, zebras, camels, giraffes, rhinos, wallabies, emus and plants (and so much more), we went on the land train around the park and finished off with a well deserved ice cream or lollipop. The children were exhausted….but not exhaused enough to sleep on the bus on the way back - their enegry is endless! We did have a fantastic day and one which we would certainly recommend and one which we would look forward to doing again as even though we packed in a lot - there was still much more to explore.
Here are just a few pictures that we took during the visit, our Christian value of Friendship displayed in abundance.
