Welcome back everyone - children, parents, grandparents and friends.
For those of you who are new to our pages, we hope you find them useful and informative. Over the course of the year, we will use these pages to let you know about the learning that takes place in the classroom each week and hope that you use these pages to have discussions with your chldren about their learning - I am sure lots of you have had the following conversation already…..“what did you do in school today - nothing, who did you play with - nobody, what did you have for lunch - nothing”. Well, by reading these pages we are confident that you will see that a lot of learning takes place, lots of social interaction takes place and also a lot of fun!
So, where shall we start……
Welcome to our newest Robins and welcome back to our ‘old’ Robins who, we have to say have been the most wonderful role models. Also, welcome to Mrs Brown who leads Robins on a Monday and Tuesday alongside Mrs Langford (who is in every day of the week) and Ms. Reynolds who is on her teacher training placement with us this year.
We have spent this week mainly in free flow activities, spending time with each other and getting to know each other and familiarising ourselves with new routines….taking the register, greeting each other, ordering lunches – trying new food (and having to wash and dry up afterwards!!!!) being the class helper, borrowing a library book, house meetings, exploring ‘art’ through loose parts and so much more – let’s take a look.
Year 1
Year 1 children have all received new reading books. Books need to be in school every day and will be changed every Tuesday. We ask that children are read with at home at least 5 times a week and that parents / grandparents etc sign the reading record. In the back of the reading records you will find the recommended book list for Year 1 and EYFS – I know many of you enjoy going to the library or borrowing these books from school and then tick them off the list. I wonder if any of you will read ALL the books on the lists this year. What a challenge!
Show and Tell for Year 1 will take place on Thursday’s, we will write in the Home School Link Books when it is your child’s turn so please make sure you check these books – we will also remind the children so they in turn remind you as I am sure they will! You can support them by asking them to ‘show and tell’ you what they are going to talk about – it always amazes me how many of them can make a stick they find at playtime sound like the most precious item they have ever owned!
Also, can Year 1 children only please have a water bottle in school every day.
EYFS
No reading books…..yet. We will hold our reading workshop after school on Wednesday 28th September, where we will talk you through the way in which we teach phonics so that you can support reading at home. After this session your child will then receive their reading books – parents / grandparents / siblings are all welcome to join us for this session – tea and biscuits will be on offer!
Have a wonderful weekend and see you all again on Monday
