‘Living life in all its fullness’ - we certainly have been…
Harvest
What a busy week for the end of Autumn term 1. We have had our harvest festival where parents and governors came to see us share our special song - well done to those who sung the solo verse showing such courage. Thank you for your generous contributions to the Loose Ends food bank
THANK YOU!
Thank you to those of you who have kindly collected and sent in conkers to use as our learning gems. The children have started filling their jar with conkers representing all their learning achievements.
As part of our learning about Floodland, and reflecting on harvest - we held hearty discussions around the traditional and historical celebrations compared to modern day harvest festivals. This lead us on to discussing reasons for this including society, political effects and climate change. We wrote harvest poems with a powerful message in them linked to climate change and the effect this summer’s drought had on this years harvest.
CONKER SCULPTURES
This week we created Andy Goldsworthy inspired sculptures using conkers as our natural resources. The showed brilliant creativity and were proud of what they built.
SECONDARY Q and A
A former pupil kindly came to speak to year 6’s about life at secondary school. It was a great opportunity for the children to ask questions and share their thoughts on their final year at primary school and beginning to think about the transition to secondary.
ARCHERY AFTERNOON
On Thursday, Red Kites were treated to an extra special session where Becky and Gary came in from F.A.C.E Events to run an afternoon of team building and archery. The children had a great time problem solving and showed brilliant team work through this - supporting and encouraging each other whilst having lots of fun. There were some brilliant aims, and accuracy in archery - and the scores were really close between teams! Well done Red Kites!
Happy vibes
This week there has been a lovely atmosphere outside in the Red Kites area. The children seem to be really enjoying each others company and this space.
Happy Half Term
It has been a real pleasure to meet and catch up with parents this week for parents evening. Thank you for coming in.
Wishing you all a well rested half term break. Stay safe and take care.
