Let's recycle

Kingfishers have been busy this week. Have a look below to see what we have been up to.

In English, Kingfishers have been using our new story ‘Dear Earth’ as an anchor to support our ideas for saving the planet. We have been exploring what letter writing is and how to write a letter. This week we used all our learning about letter writing to plan, write and edit a letter to King Charles III to discuss our ideas for how we can save our precious planet. Here are some of the ideas we gathered:

Next week we will publish our letters, put them into an envelope and go to the post box to post them.

In Maths, we explored and represented what each digit means, considering the tens and ones in each number. We also positioned numbers on a number line and explained why we would position that number there.

In Topic, we compared the difference between human and physical features on a map and in real life. We discussed what an aerial photo is, using a block of 10 cubes. We were amazed with how flat the cubes looked in an aerial photo! Here’s our aerial photo of the cubes:

We then looked at and discussed the human and physical features shown on a map of our school. We focused on the adventure playground and compared the aerial photo on a map to real life.

In Art, we explored some of the work of Andy Goldsworthy. We gave our opinion about his artwork and explained why we liked or disliked it. Then we learnt different facts about Adam Goldsworthy. We then taught each other the facts we had learnt.

Here’s some pictures from Forest School:
