This week we have been learning about Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.
We learned the poem In Flanders Fields by John McCrae - a solider during The Great War - its significance and how it inspired the tradition of wearing Poppies for Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.
We also created some Poppy rocks in remembrance of those who gave their lives during the wars, and shared some speeches during our Remembrance worship.
We have also been learning to discuss Art work, during an Art Walk led by our Arts leader.
“On the 11th November it is Armistice day - World War One ended at 11 o’clock on the 11th day of the 11th Month. We wear poppies to and have a two minute silence to remember the fallen soldiers because they gave their lives for our country and freedom. ”
Here are some of our paintings on Bonfire night and the houses of parliament inspired and based upon Starry Night by Van Gough.
