Wow - what a very busy week Kingfishers have had! Not only did we go on a trip to the Synagogue but we also had another trip to take part in a cricket festival. Alongside these trips we also continued our other learning on the importance of plant reproduction in Science, division in Maths and a new spelling rule in Phonics. We have certainly learnt a lot this week!
Our new spelling rule was how to add a suffix to a word ending in e. We discussed the rule of dropping the e and adding the suffix, for example adding the suffix ‘er’ to drive would create the word driver. Kingfishers then showed their understanding by writing a sentence which included words that followed this rule.
-
“I had the ripest apple in the world.”
“I am the nicest person in the school.”
“I am a brilliant writer and I write wonderful stories.”
“Sully and I were the latest to arrive at school.”
“This rider is the bravest of all the riders.”
“The miner went into the rusty cart so they didn’t have to carry their treasure.”
“I am a very good writer.”
“I am a braver person so I can go in the lightening room at Millets Farm.”
-
“I was swimming in the biggest pool ever.”
I look forward to reading the sentences from the homework on Wednesday that include words with this rule.
We really enjoyed our trips and gained lots of first-hand experiences. All the adults couldn’t be prouder of every single Kingfisher with how polite, inquisitive and respectful they were. Well done, Kingfishers! We hope you have a restful weekend and come back on Monday ready for another busy week of learning.
