Oracy Challenge (Weekend Wonder)
In Kingfishers, the topic for our weekly Oracy Challenge this week will be colours! You could talk about a favourite colour, something colourful, a picture or model you’ve made, or where you find colour.
You can still upload photos to Teams or bring something that you will use to help you talk about the topic.
It has been a fantastic week in Kingfishers!
In phonics this week:
Year 1 have been looking at alternative phonemes for ai (ay, a-e, a) and f (ph).
Year 2 have been exploring alternative phonemes for s (zh) and using a possessive apostrophe.
We have been planning and writing a letter in English this week as we wanted to tell the Big Bad Wolf how mean he had been. Here are some of our letters below:
We have been continuing to explore time in Maths. Year 2 have been using their 5 times table to tell the time to the nearest 5 minute interval. Year 1 have been exploring the difference between seconds, minutes and hours and thinking about the best unit of time to use to measure different activities.
In RE, we discussed a special place for those with who follow the Jewish faith. We looked at what a synagogue is and explored some of the special objects we’d find there. Next week, Rabbi Zvi will be visiting us to tell us all about the synagogue and why it is special.
Myself, Mrs Oberholzer and Mrs Dale are very proud of how well Kingfishers supported, behaved and communicated during sports day. Well done everyone! Before sports day started we discussed the Christian values and where we might see them during the day. At the end of the day Kingfishers reflected on their day and shared which Christian values they saw and why. Here are some of their reflections:
“I saw trust because we needed to trust that the rest of my house were going to support each other.”
“I had endurance because I wanted to give up but my sister helped me to find a solution and I ran the race.”
