We're going to the post office

Kingfishers have had an adventurous week. Have a look below to see what we have been up to.

In English, Kingfishers published their letters to the King onto paper so that they could put it into an envelope. Also, we continued our writing journey to create our own non-chronological report and this week we recapped what a sentence is and discovered the use of paragraphs and what present tense verbs are.

Have a look below to see our published letters and discovering from this week:

In Maths, we started our week by showing off all our fantastic place value knowledge- can you remember what tens and ones are? We finished our week by showing the facts we know can be extended to discover other facts e.g. I know 6 + 4 = 10 so I know 6 + 3 = 9.

In Science, we discussed why certain materials are used to create certain objects. A Year 2 said, “A pan is made from metal because it is not absorbent.”

This week in art we painted leaves. These will be used to create our Andy Goldsworthy inspired showcase at the end of term. We talked about autumnal colours and then practised making them by mixing only primary colours.

This week in Geography we needed to do our field work in order to have all the information we needed to create our own map of Great Shefford. Unfortunately, due to the wind and rain we weren’t able to collect all the information we needed. But as we were determined to post our letters, instead we walked down to the post office and helped Mrs Stevenson buy a number of items for our classroom. On the way, we discussed the different human and physical features we could see. Here’s some images from our outing:
