Week ending 23.09.2022

Look at us - each one of us unique, each one of us beautiful and when we come together we become truly AMAZING!

Thank you so much for decorating your spoons - they look absolutely fantastic, if you haven’t returned your spoon yet, don’t panic, pop it back on Monday even if you haven’t decorated it, we will find some time to do it in school next week.

So what have we been learning this week……

Despite starting our week a day later, it certainly didn’t slow us down! We all came in amazingly well with enthusiasm to explore the different activities throughout the day.

In our tuff tray we became herb chefs, developing our cutting skills whilst ensuring that the babies received their breakfast on time! From flat parsley to chives, we discussed the different smells and how each herb looked with some not to be confused with grass!

We all had our first Pantomimus session of the year on Tuesday and both Reception and Year 1 loved exploring different instruments and using them to copy a beat. They all showed off their concentration skills during the conductor part of the session, where we had to watch the conductor carefully to see when we needed to play loudly, quietly or stop, some of us even got a chance to have a go!

When we weren’t becoming music maestros, we were developing our creative side in Art, exploring the fascinating work of Andy Goldsworthy, and learning all about how he used natural objects to create sculptures. We explored and discussed a range of natural objects from stones to pinecones and then worked hard to look at their features and do an observational drawing- look at how fantastic they are!

We played phonics games in readiness for starting our phonics sessions next week, we learnt the names of some minibeasts in French, we listened carefully and asked question in Show and Tell, went for a welly walk around the village (spotted Debbie at pre school - the children were so excited to see her, she must have felt like a celebrity!), enjoyed breakfast on Friday morning - waffles and toast and still had time to explore loose parts, junk modelling, reading. library and PE!

Phonics fun, listening and taking turns

Junk modelling

Exploring and observing items on the nature table

French with Madame Wilson

Show and Tell - a swimming costume

Our loose parts led us to the colourful world of glass pebbles, where we carefully made beautiful patterns. This needed great concentration and we were certainly proud of the results!

Welly walking - looking for Autumnal changes

Sharing a story with a friend in the reading tent
