Wow - can you believe we are in term 4 already? What an incredible start Kingfishers have had to this term. We have started exploring our new topics like photography in Computing or healthy eating in Design and Technology.
Every day this week, we have started our day by thinking about how breaking a word up into syllables can help us to spell it, for example ev-er-y-bod-y or beau-ti-ful. We practiced using syllables for spelling and identified the trickier parts of the words to spell such as everybody.
During English, we imitated and innovated ‘The Magic Brush’ story and recalled both versions from heart. Because we enjoyed creating a whole class innovation, during our Big Write we had a go at creating our own innovated version using Jez as the main character.
In Maths, we explored the 2 times table in order and not in order, as well as discovering the meaning of the multiplication symbol. For example:
Sentence: The picture shows that there are four groups of four.
Multiplication expression: 4 x 4
Repeated Addition: 4 + 4 + 4 + 4
In Design Technology this week we tried different types of wraps and some sauces that could be added to our wraps for flavour. The children had the opportunity to explore flavours that they have not tried before. We also talked about what it means to have a balanced diet.
