Oracy Challenge (Weekend Wonder)

In Kingfishers, the topic for our weekly Oracy Challenge this week will be holidays! You could talk about a holiday you have been on, somewhere you’d like to go, something you have seen or tell us all about the pretend holiday you could have at home this weekend.

You can still upload photos to Teams or bring something that you will use to help you talk about the topic.

It has been a lovely week in Kingfishers!

In phonics this week:

Year 1 have been looking at alternative phonemes for oa (ow, oe, o-e, o, ol)

Year 2 have been exploring using syllables to support spelling and homophones (were, where, wear)

We have been exploring some of the features of a newspaper article this week and had some breaking news on Friday! The newspaper article with all the details will be out soon after all the witnesses have been interviewed.

We have been exploring mass in Maths, and this week we compared a range of objects. Year 1 discovered the best non-standard unit to use and Year 2 learnt all about reading scales using the standard units, grams and kilograms.

We discovered what animals including humans need to stay alive in Science. I wonder if your child remembers what they need.

We were very lucky this week to take part in an Indian Dance Workshop. We learnt a range of steps and put them together to perform a dance. Well done Kingfishers!
