Cinderella

This week has been full of excitement and preparations for Christmas.

In Phonics this week we have been focusing on spelling and discussing how we know which grapheme to use when spelling a word. Why not discuss at home how we know grass ends in the double ss grapheme?

Kingfishers have really enjoyed their English lessons this week as we planned and wrote a story based on the book The Story Machine. We wrote the opening and build up together as a shared write and then independently planned and wrote the problem, resolution and ending.

Here’s the original version:

In Science, we explored why it is important to know and understand which materials can change shape and how they have changed shape. We used playdough to explore this. Kingfishers then started to discuss animations made of playdough and how the creators needed to know and understand how materials change shape in order to create their characters like Shaun the Sheep.

A Kingfisher even explored how the playdough needed to be changed to create Shaun the Sheep.

Kingfishers have also been creating something special to share with you next week, so here’s a sneak peek.

Everyone had a fantastic time at the panto on Thursday as they cheered, booed and sang. What a lovely performance of Cinderella.
